The Most Venerable Sunyananda (德心 禪師)

The Most Venerable Sunyananda (Dr. J. Richard Paszkiewicz) is a multiyana trained, fully authorized Buddhist teacher. He has been given teaching authority in the Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese Zen schools*.
Sunyananda has studied and taught Buddhism and Buddhist Martial Arts throughout the world, lectured at numerous colleges and universities, and in addition to appearing in and writing for various media outlets, has served as an official delegate to numerous Buddhist events, including the first White House Buddhist Leader's Conference, and the United Nation's World Day of Vesak.
Academically, Sunyananda has earned Associate of Science degrees in Biology, and Natural Science and Mathematics, a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, a Master of Arts in Religion, a Master of Arts in Counseling, and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Psychotherapy, among other degrees. He completed his clinical pastoral residency (1600 clinical hours) at the University of Kansas Hospital, and has subsequently earned dual board certification as a Pastoral Counselor and as a Clinical Chaplain with the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, and holds a post-doctoral certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
Sunyananda is a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) with the Yoga Alliance, and is the current headmaster of the Korean Buddhist Martial Arts Association, holding advanced grades in several martial arts.
